For Pet Owners
Dr. Miller will work with your veterinarian to rapidly diagnose and treat the injuries and illnesses of your dog, cat or ferret through the use of the latest non-invasive and minimally invasive medicine techniques. Understanding what these methods are can give pet owners a powerful advantage in decision-making when faced with an emergency.
An ultrasound exam is a minimally invasive technology that gives the pet owner and the veterinarian a great deal of information about the patient quickly, safely and without the need for surgery. Ultrasound can help your veterinarian diagnose quickly, saving time, costs, stress and, most importantly, lives.
When should I ask for an ultrasound?
Will my pet need to be shaved for the exam? Why?
Shaving the area to be examined is necessary and will help speed up the procedure.
Do I need special instructions for appointments for abdominal ultrasound?
Yes. You should receive complete instructions from your veterinarian, verbally or in writing, prior to the appointment and upon the release of your pet from the hospital.
Do I need special instruction if my pet has diabetes or other medical conditions?
Yes. Please call your veterinarian for instructions.
Who do I talk to if I have questions before or after the exam?
If you have any questions about the procedure you should talk to your veterinarian. If there are questions specifically about the technical aspects of the procedure that your veterinarian cannot answer, we will be happy to answer those questions for you — 520-471-1618
